Oh well hello! Have not blogged for around 5 days and I kinda miss blogging already! Last Saturday, I went back to Malaysia for my relative's wedding. Hmmm actually my 'relative' is actually my cousin, but she's not really my cousin. Confusing huh? It's because my grandma adopted her as her god-granddaughter.. So she's my cousin.. But we're not blood-related. And it's kinda cool to have such a cool cousin. She's damn rich, like she has a lot of branded bags. And she live in a super big house on her own. Ntm she has a lot of houses. And she's super skinny (envy) and pretty (more envy). Sad to say, I didn't take any pictures of the wedding etc because I was the sister and if I had to lug my DSLR with me all the time it'll be very troublesome. So, yup no pictures. But on Sunday when the wedding ended etc, I was back at my grandma house and so... Decided to do a post about my grandma's house.
My family in Malaysia is counted rich I guess? As in, our house is actually 2 houses which are linked together. So in fact, the house is made up of 2 units.
The exterior view of my grandma house:
(from left to right, because I couldn't take a full shot of it)
Just some random thingy I found hanging at the door. Is it a pupa or something? Or cocoon? It was swaying in the wind.
There are a lot of plants etc (not as much as compared to my paternal's grandma house, though)
And this 2 shutters are actually down only when the sun's big and the weather is very hot, which is on Sunday. If we play mahjong out in the living room, we'll also let the shutters down.
Looks dirty huh? We all call this 'ging3 gong2'. Idk why it's called that, but it sounds cute right? Haha.. My mom actually bought this like more than 20 years ago I think? Then they repainted the whole thing pink because the skin was peeling off and the metal got exposed. But now it's a dirty vintage looking pink. Hahaha.
Still, this ging gong holds many memory and good times in Malaysia for me. I still remembered when we were young, all of my cousins (7 of us) would just stand onto it and then we'll sway it so violently that the whole thing would move. Like literally, back and forth. Haha. Then we also came up with a lot of techniques on how to play on it. And they were damn fun.
This is like the Left side of the house. I find it cool that the houses in that area all have like 'alleys' on the houses' left and right. But it's kinda spooky at night, for sure.
Can you see the door behind? The door can actually be opened and there's another 'alley' at the back of the house. Usually, if there are cats shitting and causing a stench, we'll go to the back and take a peep. Or if they make there their house, we'll also go there and take a peep.
Then I wanted to go to the right side, but on that Sunday, cause the sun was so hot, my aunt decided to park her car in the house... So.. I couldn't get to the right side of the house because the car blocked the way.
But! Thanks to my brother, who was sitting on the ging gong told me to just open the doors of the car. Cause they didnt lock the car doors. And tada, I just opened the car doors and went to the right side.
And so, this is the right 'alley'
Looks messy at the back huh? On the left of the end of the 'alley' is a door to the kitchen actually :) Thats why there are a lot of stuff
More nature-looking pictures coming up!
The damn messy shoe rack. Looks like it's gonna collapse right. Hahaha. We dont put shoes there now. The shoes there are all like the unwanted shoes.
All the shoes are here.. Haha. I love it when I see lots of shoes outside a door, cause it seems like there's lots of warmth in the house.
The patterns on the top of the walls. Obviously, these holes will allow lots of pests to climb in, so plastic sheets are pasted onto them.
The door... that's my father sitting on the chair. Haha! He's watching some tv program.
When the door is closed. And my father looked at me and asked me what I'm doing at that point of time.. Hehe.
More plants...
The right of the living room.
The left of the living room.
My cousins all crowd there to use their laptops. Cute huh. And what I find cuter is that, they rotate their turns to use the computer in about intervals of 30 minutes or so? Damn little right. I can use the computer for the whole day just to myself. they find this quite shocking, though. But it's so common among Singaporeans now. And I'll never have a chance to use it even if I request because I'll cut the queue of the next person in line to use the laptop.
The left of left of the living room.
My cute cousin tryna act funny but didn't know I took a picture of her.
The right of right side of the living room.
Where we put our precious shoes under this fish tank rack.
We don't put them outside because there are actually thieves who will climb over the metal gates in the mid of the night and steal these expensive looking shoes. Yup, so as to ensure we can go back to Singapore.
My favourite qtpie cousin. Keke so cute right. He's in primary school already I think. Not sure... I love to pinch his cheeks and touch his hair. SO SOFT. And he's born to be an entertainer la. Always tryna be funny. So cute. He's 23 kg only, and he's very skinny, really. He looks even more skinny. Both candid shots.
His older brother.
His older sister. This is so candid that it doesn't even look like her.
The gateway to heaven. Haha, just kidding~ It's like a walk through. This is the best place for us to play mahjong. Haha, maximum 2 tables only.
And there's a room on the left of it. No one sleeps in there, because its super messy and there are a lot of mozzies.
Just look, so messy right? Haha.
The rooms in my grandma house are ALL not level. Means you'll either have to step up, or step down.
Messy messy mess...
The way to the back of the house, which is when I look straight.
When I look right.
Another room on the right.
This room is the room 2 pictures above, and this was where my grandma slept. She's passed away~ So now my grandpa sleeps in there, whole room to himself, but it's so different from last time. Last time, this was the only room with level flooring, but the floor had big holes and etc because we kept on stepping on them. Like the floor was not cemented. It was empty between the real floor and the 'floor'. Ok this is confusing. Picture for reference.
Can see from the base of the bed rack up till the first bed there's a empty area. That's what I meant. And the bed rack which is like | | | | | | | | (like that) was used to support us stepping on them. And the big holes were caused because the wood shifted apart. Thus, causing big holes. And it was super scary. Like I will walk carefully. If not bam. The floor breaks. So literally, the floor of the room was actually soft.
So after my grandma passed away, there was no need of level flooring anymore. Because my grandma actually had to travel by wheelchair, so it had to be level even though the floor was soft and whatever shit. So, we cleared away the bed rack look-alike thing all by ourselves. And we repainted the whole room. So if we enter the room now, we'll have to step down.
To the back of the house!
Left side after stepping over.
That's a real well, just that technology has been applied on it. Haha. Sounds weird to say it this way... Like I mean we don't scoop water from the well manually already. There's a pump and etc so we're still bathing from well water.
The right.
Center
Close up at the well. What I really hate about the well is that it creates a lot of noise cause one of the trigger is spoilt so it will create 'tek-tek' sounds if we flush water from the toilet or we do not turn on enough water. So for example, if we flush from the toilet, we'll have to turn on the water from another place, like say bathroom or toilet.
My most disliked place of the whole house.... The bathroom. It just looks so dirty right!!@# I know... I hate bathing in it. That's why I'll choose to not bathe. Haha. The bathroom is only like 190cm? When I bathe and I raise up my arms, I'll just bang the top. So irritating!!!! Very limited space also. Ntm, I hate bathing in well water. No matter what ways they are filtered naturally, I still think it's dirty. I remember times when the water just turns brown. And we still have to bathe this way. Like I'm bathing mud water! Assholeeeeee.
Even though there's a heater and another tap for clean water.... The water is still not 100% clean. And the heater is seldom used.. Like if we use but others don't, it's very bad right! They'll think that Singaporeans all so high class then don't want bathe cold water. Btw, yes the water is all cold if we don't on heater because no heat applied ma! And.. Even if we on the heater to use the water, the water is super little! I think it's spoilt. And the well will just produce the 'tek tek' sound so we HAVE TO turn on the tap for the well water. So you'll have to bathe fast if not the water from the blue basin just overflows. So usually we'll put pails to put the hot water from the basin and add cold water to it so it becomes warm.
2nd hated area of this house. This sink. Looks damn gross already right. Worse is having to brush my teeth here every night because it'll be very dark and there are a lot of mozzies so I MUST move my legs and walk around when I am brushing my teeth if not confirm confirm will have super big super big mozzie bites.
This shoe rack contains my aunt's shoes.
3rd hated area. This pathway to the toilet. It looks really spooky at night some more.
I used to think there are snakes in this room because it's all sealed-up-looking and I watched movies and those snakes just build their nests here and bam! So many snakes. I still think this way now, though. Haha. And it smells super weird! Ntm, there are confirm a lot of roaches and rats.
Going to the toilet on the left...
See the bottom, so dark and dirty and scary and bla!
The 'squat' toilet. It's cleaner than the 'sit' toilet on the right. But, because I've seen centipedes and millipedes in them, (I'm very unlucky) I don't dare to go there already. Plus I have to pass by the place I hate!
The right view of the back of the house. See the mahjong tables~ Miss playing it.
This 'alley' is where we put all the dry store food. hate coming here cause there are a lot of mozzies.
Beside the 'alley'. This room is the 2nd worst room I think, as compared to the one with a lot of 'imaginary snakes' in it.
To the kitchen~
The kitchen... I dont like coming here at night because it's dark and I'm scared of rats so yup. There are a lot of rats in kitchen ma.
The toilet beside the kitchen. Didn't take a picture of the interior because my qtpie cousin was shitting in the toilet! And the smell was BAM. Haha, so even after he shitted finish, I couldn't take a picture cause you know, smell diffuses~ This toilet is all cement based, so there's no blue tiles like the 'squat' toilet. It looks super dirty.
Btw, was my cousin's man yue. Never even see her face before. Lol.
The room where I sleep in. (all my aunts in there so I dont dare go in take picture) I just took a picture and zao!
Back to the living room to join the slackers.
My bro
Candid~ But looking so cute huh/
Qtpie's older sis.
And some chewing gum to slack with.
The whole stretch of houses on this 'lorong'.
We always go to the 'bridge' on the right during cny or whatever festive ocassions to play with the fire crackers and etc. And I even saw a huge dead rotting snake beside the river before too. (now I know why I think there are snakes in my grandma house) It was freaking smelly man. I swear. Now I know what a rotting body smells like. Ntm, if there is heavy rain or whatever shit, there can be floods. Like seriously, up till the waist or etc. Just that, I was in Singapore all the while when there was flood. Just imagine all the dirty water in the river, looking all brown, up to your waist. And there are like water snakes and worms and stuff. Damn gross. (but I've always wanted to experience a flood)
Can see the railway track at the end of the picture? :)
Cute kitties.
This place hold a lot of memories!! And all the neighbours etc~ Still remember playing childish games with them. Sad to say, this whole stretch of houses are soon-to-be-demolished. This whole area, actually. Because of the floods I think. so the government has already set aside this area for some other purposes. Just that we dont know when to move out. Cause we have another house at another place. (but it's like super duper small.) It's only like 1/4 of the current size of this house? Hope there's no need to move away.. So, tada, my grandma's house. Sorry for all the broken english etc. Super long post.
